Vintage Action Man UK

The community site for all 1/6th scale figure collectors

I started work on a restoration of four old eagle eyed, blue pants VAM that I liberated from my parents attic.

They're my old toys from the 70's, which were PLAYED with, and then passed on to my brothers, wo in turn, did the same and then some.

They're not in the best of nick, but with a little TLC, they will be soon.

Here's the first patient, and how he turned out, after much use of plumbers tape and elastic!

More to follow.

Cheers,

Nick

How do you stiffen up the joints i have three 70's actionmen which are loose.

If they're Blue Pants, then this is the method I used.

I used plumbers tape in all the joints. Insert in the join, and wrap around into the joint until you get the desired stiffness. Cut it, and push the end down into the gap.

If the ball sockets are loose, wrap sewing elastic (12mm is pretty good) around the ball, glue it in place (glue elastic to elastic and NOT the Action Man), cut off the excess, and then swivel it inside the join.

If they're fuzzy head and earlier, there are some fantastic tips here.. http://actionmanhq.co.uk/forum/index.php?

Good luck!

If they're blue pants AM, then you can use plumbers PFTE tape wrapped round and into the joints. If the legs are floppy at the hips then you can use flat elastic and wrap that around the top of the leg and force it in under the pants.

If they're fuzzy or painted head VAM, there are some great tips here.. http://actionmanhq.co.uk/forum/index.php?

Good luck.
